7-GOAL THIRD PERIOD CARRIES LEAGUE-LEADING POWER PAST WOODSMEN

Feb 22, 2025

KETTLE MORAINE, Wis. — The Wisconsin Woodsmen had league-leading West Bend right
where they wanted them Friday evening.

Or so they thought.

The Woodsmen entered the third period clinging to a one-goal advantage. Unfortunately, West
Bend turned up the Power — literally — erupting for seven goals over the game’s final 20
minutes in dealing Wisconsin an 8-3 NA3HL setback at Kettle Moraine Ice Arena.

Hugh Deinema got the Woodsmen off and running, scoring his team-leading 25 th goal just three
minutes into the first period, with Viktor Budik and Charles Murray picking up the assists.

Mike Sobaski pulled the Power even less than two minutes later, and the game would remain
deadlocked into the second intermission.

Justin Funk put the Woodsmen back in front just 18 seconds into the third period, scoring his
seventh of the season off assists from Brandon Slasor and Murray.

It was then that West Bend switch on the power.

Michael Mallette knotted the game at 2-2 at 6:06, Jackson Hoem scored twice, and Odin Kiebba
and Brody Josselyn also found the back of the net over the next eight minutes to give the Power
a commanding 7-2 advantage.

Vincent Greene stopped the Power run with his 11th goal of the year at 15:10, but that would
be as close as the Woodsmen would get, as West Bend’s Lucca Weinkauf answered 48 seconds
later to round out the scoring.

Steven Kelley suffered the loss in goal for Wisconsin, despite making 36 saves, while
West Bend goalie Adam Prokop kicked out 22 of the Woodsmen’s 25 shots on goal.

Wisconsin will get another shot at the league-leading Power on Saturday, when the two teams
return to Kettle Moraine Ice Arena for the 7:30 p.m. rematch.
