TOMAH, Wis. — Pull out the brooms — again.
For the second straight weekend, the Wisconsin Woodsmen swept their opponent right out of
the Tomah Ice Center, scoring five goals over the final two periods — including a hat trick off
the stick of Maxim Lazo — to complete their second NA3HL sweep in as many weekends with a
5-1 win over the Rochester Grizzlies.
With the win, the Woodsmen, who beat Rochester 5-3 on Friday, extended their winning streak
to a franchise-record-tying four straight.
After a scoreless first period, Wisconsin got all the offense it would need in the second, thanks
to goals by Lazo 30 seconds into the frame and Pierson Zittel with less than four minutes
remaining in the stanza.
Rochester cut the Wisconsin lead in half at 14:58 of the third, only to have Lazo cap off his hat
trick with back-to-back goals and Hugh Deinema add his eighth of the season over the game’s
final four minutes.
Lleyton Jaschke kicked out 22 of the Grizzlies’ 23 shots on goal, while Rochester goalie Riley
Swanson finished with 19 saves.
