WEEKEND PREVIEW: WOODSMEN HIT THE ROAD FOR PAIR OF GAMES AT MINNESOTA MOOSE
After a relaxing Thanksgiving break, the Wisconsin Woodsmen are back on the road this
weekend, heading to the Fogerty Ice Arena in Blaine, Minn., for a pair of NA3HL games against
the Minnesota Moose. Puck drop on both Friday and Saturday is slated for 7:05 p.m.

WOODSMEN SCOUTING REPORT:
• FOR THE RECORD: The Woodsmen head into their weekend series at the Minnesota Moose
sitting at 11-5-2-1 overall and are currently one point behind the Rochester Grizzlies for third
place in the Central Division standings, five points back of league-leading Wausau.
• LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin could not hang on two a 2-1 lead heading into the third period,
surrendering the game-tying goal with 45 seconds remaining in regulation, and the game-
winning goal 33 seconds into overtime in a 3-2 loss to the West Bend Power.
• STREAK-SNAPPER: With their 5-2 loss to Rochester on Nov. 8, the Woodsmen had their
franchise-record six-game winning streak snapped. … Wisconsin are 7-1-0-0 in its last eight
games.
• ROAD WARRIORS: This weekend’s games against the Moose are the second and third of four
straight road contests for the Woodsmen, who will head to Rochester, Minn., for a single game
against the Rochester Grizzlies next Friday, before finally returning home for a pair of games
against league-leading Wausau on Nov. 21-22. … Wisconsin is sitting at 4-1-1-1 on the road,
while going 7-4-1-0 at the Tomah Ice Center.
• TURNING UP THE HEAT: The Woodsmen erupted for 18 goals in their two-game sweep of
Peoria on Oct. 18-19. The eight goals scored in their 8-1 win on Oct. 18 were the most Wisconsin
had scored all season, only to be two-upped with the Woodsmen’s 10-goal eruption in their 10-
7 win the following evening. … The Woodsmen’s 10 goals against Peoria on Oct. 19 were the
most since netting a franchise-record 14 against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 26, 2024. … The
Woodsmen have now scored 8+ goals in a game three times this season.
• RIGHT ON TARGET: The Woodsmen finished with a season-high 67 shots on goal against
Peoria on Oct. 19 — including 20 in the first period and 29 in their six-goal second period. …
Wisconsin’s 67 shots on goal were the third-most in franchise history and just two shy of the
program record of 69, set against the Minnesota Loons on Jan. 27, 2024.
• WHITE-KNUCKLE RIDE: Wisconsin’s 3-2 loss to West Bend on Nov. 16 was its seventh game
decided by one goal — including four that have gone into overtime and one decided in a
shootout.
• FRANCHISE FIRST: After going 0-9-0-1 in its 10 meetings against Wausau last season, the
Woodsmen picked up their first-ever win against the Cyclones with a 3-2 victory on Sept. 20.
• FRANCHISE FIRST II: Wisconsin’s Oct. 18-19 games against Rochester marked the first-ever
meeting between the Woodsmen and the Grizzlies. … The Woodsmen’s two games against the
Minnesota Moose this weekend are also the first in franchise history.
• LIGHTING THE LAMP: Hugh Deinema and Nolan Mix share the team lead in goals with 13, four
in front of Joshua Kauppinen. … Maxim Lazo is sitting fourth with seven goals, followed by
Tristen May-Robinson with six, and Daniel Svozil and Vincent Greene with five each. … Deinema
closed out the 2023-24 season as the Woodsmen’s leading goal scorer with 29 goals in 44
games.
• DOUBLING UP: Mix scored two goals in Wisconsin’s 5-3 win over Rochester on Oct. 25,
marking the third straight game in which he netted a pair of goals. Mix has now scored two
goals in a game four times this season, while Kauppinen and Deinema have each netted two
goals in a game twice. Lazo, Johnny Thrasher, and Charles Murray have also recorded multiple-
goal games this season.
• TRIPLING UP: Lazo scored three of Wisconsin’s five goals in the Woodsmen’s 5-1 win over
Rochester on Oct. 26. It was the Woodsmen’s first hat trick of the season, and the third time in
program history they have had a player score three or more goals in a game.
• END OF A RUN: Kauppinen had his season-opening four-game goal-scoring streak snapped in
Wisconsin’s 6-5 overtime loss to Granite City on Sept. 27. … Deinema netted a goal in each of
Wisconsin’s first three games.
• LENDING A HELPING HAND: Deinema and Viktor Budik share the team lead with 16 assists,
three more than Kauppinen. Mix (12) and May-Robinson (10) have also reached double figures
in helpers. … Mix picked up four assists in Wisconsin’s 8-2 win over St. Louis on Nov. 2, one shy
of the single-game franchise record of five, set by Hunter Nelson against the Minnesota Loons
on Jan. 26, 2024. … Budik led the Woodsmen with 30 assists a year ago, four more than Nicholas
O’Brien.
• POINT PRODUCERS: With his 13 goals and 16 assists, Deinema sits atop the team’s points race
with 29. He is one of four Woodsmen with 20 or more points, and one of 10 with 10+ points,
being joined by Mix (13 G, 12 A, 25 Pts), Kauppinen (9 G, 13 A, 22 Pts), Budik (4 G, 16 A, 20 Pts),
May-Robinson (6 G, 10 A, 16 Pts), Lazo (7 G, 9 A, 16 Pts), Charles Murray (4 G, 9 A, 13 Pts),
Daniel Svozil (5 G, 7 A, 12 Pts), Greene (5 G, 7 A, 12 Pts), Slasor (4 G, 7 A, 11 Pts). … Mix’s five-
point game against St. Louis on Nov. 2 — scoring once and adding assisting on four others
— were a season-high and one-shy of the franchise record. … Wisconsin closed out the 2023-24
season with two players boasting 40+ points — Deinema with 49 (29 G, 20 A) and Hunter Nelson
with 46 (23 G, 23 A).
• BETWEEN THE PIPES: Steven Kelley heads into this weekend’s matchup against the Minnesota
Moose sporting a 2.84 goals-against-average and a .906 save percentage. Lleyton Jaschke boasts
a 3.85 GAA and an .880 save %, Otto Reinhart owns a 3.66 GAA and .875 save %, and Andrew
Peterson has compiled a 2.48 GAA and .912 save %. … Kelley has amassed 288 saves in nine
games, with Jaschke sitting second kicking out 151 shots in seven starts.
• SPECIAL TEAMS: After managing just one power-play goal in their first six contests, the
Woodsmen have collected 13 PP goals in their last 11 games. Wisconsin is now 14-for-79 on the
power play (17.8 %). On the flip side, Wisconsin has allowed just 13 power-play goals in its
opponents’ 97 PP chances.
