outscoring Wisconsin 2-1 in a five-player shootout to come away with the 6-5 win.
The Woodsmen had the upper hand early, getting goals from Tyler Osborne and Joshua
Kauppinen to snag a 2-1 lead after the game’s opening period.
Kauppinen found the back of the net for a second time as the teams traded second-period
goals, leaving the Woodsmen clinging to a 3-2 advantage heading into the final 20 minutes of
play.
And what a 20 minutes it proved to be.
Brandon Slasor and Maxim Lazo scored back-to-back goals in the first 2:06 of the final grame to
extend the Woodsmen lead to 5-2, only to have Rochester rattle off three unanswered goals—
including the game-tying tally with 41 seconds remaining inu regulation — to send the game
into overtime.
After a scoreless overtime, Lazo kicked off the shootout with a goal for the Woodsmen, but
they would come up empty in their final four tries. Rochester, meanwhile, got goals from Felix
